The first choice admissions are to be guided by JAMB approved admission criteria as shown bellow:

(a)  Merit (RM):  Here about 30 (thirty) best candidates may be selected in each programme except in the following programmes where RM shall go thus: (i) Law 40, (ii) Medicine and Surgery 25, (iii) Anatomy 20, (iv) Medical     Laboratory Science 20, (v) Nursing Science 20.

(b)  Locality/Catchment (RL): based on catchment area, the 4 (four) best candidates from each of the 13 Federally recognized Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State shall be      selected for each programme/department except in the following programmes where RL shall go thus:

  1. Medicine and Surgery 3 each,
  2. Anatomy 2 each,
  3. Medical Lab. 2 each,
  4. Nursing Science 2 each.

In programmes where only 30 or less candidates are listed as qualified for selection/admission, all such listed candidate shall be selected under RM

(c)  Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS): Educationally less developed states like

  • Adamawa state
  • Bauchi state
  • Bayelsa state
  • Benue state
  • Borno state
  • Cross River state
  • Ebonyi state
  • Gombe state
  • Jigawa state
  • Kaduna state
  • Kano state
  • Kastina state
  • Kebbi state

  • Sokoto state

  • Yobe and
  • Zamfara. shall be discretionally considered if constraints of the 2015/2016 NUC quota and prevailing imperatives within EBSU as a state university permits.

(e)  Physically challenged candidates with acceptable minimum UTME (JAMB) scores are to be accorded preferential admissions privileges in2015/2016 academic session even without evidence of participation in EBSU Post UTME; especially where such challenge acted as handicap to writing the exam.

(d)  JAMB approved UTME subject combinations for different courses in the brochure shall continue to also guide all admission selections.


Subject to the prevailing situation now in EBSU, admission of candidates based on the 5,617 NUC approved quota for EBSU in 2015/2016 admission session shall be guided by the following criteria.

1.Merit/Locality etc 75% (4212 slots) subdivided into:

  • General Merit 35% (1965 slots)
  • Catchment//Locality 30% (1685 slots)
  • Direct Entry candidates 10%(562 slots)

2. Government/University Interest 10% (562 slots)

3. Staff interest 10% (562 slots)

4. Concessional 5% (281 slots)

Total (100%) (5617 slots)


Five percent of EBSU admission quota shall be reserved for concessional admission of interested non-indigenous candidates from a wealthy home who needs admission at all cost in the following capital intensive areas at costs as below:

NOTE: that the form will be on sale once the merit list is out and shall be as follows: EBSU first and supplementary choice candidates who could not secure admission through the merit list shall be considered for supplementary admission provided that

(i)  they posses sufficient evidence to confirm that they were screened during the 2015/2016 EBSU Post UTME screening exercise and that they passed JAMB (UTME) and EBSU Post UTME/PDS at the respective minimum pass marks. (ii) they show evidence of payment of three thousand naira (N3,000) only for screening.

The for those candidates who are interested in ebsu now without choosing us during jamb registration all you need to do is to keep calling that phone number from time to time as you might be called to come and pick the supplementary form, the way it was done last year, but note that your chances is very narrow and must need assistance for your names to come out in the admission list.


The possession of basic O/L entry requirements in their respective areas of discipline shall continue to be used as conditions for Direct Entry Admissions for 2015/2016 session. This is without prejudice to Direct Entry candidates in Law where single O/L sitting criteria shall be waived for those with good qualifying D/E result certificates.

  • EBSU diploma results with a minimum of Upper credit shall continue to be accepted for D/E admissions just like others from Polytechnics and Monotechnics.
  • No Diploma from other universities shall be accepted for admissions/ registration in EBSU


Prospective candidates shall be intensively screened to ensure that all documents tendered for admission (including O/L result, Post UTME result slip, PDS result slip and declaration of identity/nativity) are genuine. The university shall have the options of:

(i)  Confirming candidates UTME scores in relation to the approved cut-off point for the desired programme as well as the genuineness of the candidates O’level result. Using this option, admission may be offered to candidates based on the genuineness of his O’level result and UTME grade.

In addition to the above admission committee/HODs/Faculty officers and all concerned with registration of candidates are advised to ensure that candidates declaration of identity/nativity are critically scrutinized to avoid possible impersonation of Ebonyi indigenes. Any impersonator discovered shall be reported to the Registrar for automatic disqualification/withdrawal of admission and permanent blacklisting from future admissions in the university and even other Nigeria institutions.

NOTE: The supplementary admission list is purely survival of the fittest in the school and even Nigeria at large. But i urge candidates that while choosing a course during the supplementary form necessary considerations needs to be made.
