The present Governor of Ebonyi state Engr Dave Umahi who promised during 2015 Gubernatorial election campaign that he was going to reduce EBSU School Fees in order to ease the pain which the students and their poor parents encounters to raise the tuition fee has yesterday 17th Nov reacted as thus to the promise he made.
It could be recalled that the students of Ebonyi state University gave the Governor the maximum support and the highest vote during the 2015 General election owning to the fact that he promised them to cut down the whopping amount paid as Ebonyi state university school fees when he wins the election.
It was a drama and nightmare to all the Ebonyi state university students as the Governor called them for a conference meeting held at the school pre-degree quadrant, yesterday.
The Governor who was represented by the state special adviser to the Governor on student affairs, Mr Martins Okwuegbu, told the students that he knows very well that what all of them are here now waiting for is to hear that EBSU School Fees have been reduced, but that the students should excise patience as the Governor, Dave Umahi, is still negotiating with the school management on how to go about the high amount the students pays as fee per session.
Mr Okwuegbu, went further to tell the students that they should remain calm, avoid violence or riot and stay away from cultism as the Government continue to negotiate about the school fees with the management of the University. He said that the Government shall stop any further move for the EBSU School Fees reduction if he hears that the students involve in any violent act.
All the students were at this point appeared very disappointed such that the biscuits and drinks that was supposed to be shared to them was rejected. The special adviser to the Governor on student affairs, who represented the Governor had to go back with the biscuits and drinks.
Please the students are to remain calm as the Governor urged because from all indications, the Governor have the interest of the students at heart, and Engr Dave Umahi is a man of his words having assured the students on several occasions that the promise he made to them that he is going to reduce the school fees is a sacrosanct which must be fulfilled.
