The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, has on Monday denied the rumor about increment in the UNIBEN School Fees for students, Prof. Faraday, described the rumor as untrue, insinuations that the university had increased tuition.

This was made known to newsmen by the university Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faraday, on Monday as part of activities to mark the 41st Convocation/45th Founder’s Day of the university, which  kicked off yesterday.

It was in the invent where the Vice Chancellor debunked the rumor the he also announced that the university would be awarding honorary degrees on the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase and Prof. Osato Osagie.

It could be recalled that Prof. Osagie, one of the awardees is one of the foremost Consultant Gynaecologists and one of the medical personnel who spear-headed the successful innovation of the first test tube baby in Nigerian.

While on the other hand Prof. Orumwense, on reacting to the rumor going on about increment in UNIBEN School Fees for students, said: “There is nothing like increase in tuition fees in UNIBEN. What I think you are talking about is the N400 added to the National Health Insurance Scheme, NIHS, by the NUC which has nothing to do with the management of the university”

The school management went further to reaffirm and assure the students that they should ignore such rumor and that they cannot in any way do any thing which is capable of jeopardizing the integrity that the university has maintained for years.

Indeed this really shows that the university management has the welfare of the students at their heart, because despite the fact that the school pays the least amount as school fee in the country, they still stand on the amount.
